Identity

The Public Appointments Service is responsible for recruitment and selection to a wide variety of posts across the public sector.

Purpose

When you register with the site or submit an application form, we create a computer record in your name. Information submitted with a job application is used in processing your application and is updated as the competition progresses. If you are successful in the recruitment and selection campaign, your application may be made available to the Human Resources section of your employing organisation.

Rights of Access

Any information held on computer, or in manual form on a structured filing system, is subject to the rights and obligations set out in the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003. You are entitled under this Act to obtain a copy of information which is kept about you on computer, or in manual form on a structured filing system, at any time. The Public Appointments Service charge a fee of €6.35 for each request. To obtain a copy of this information please write to : The Data Protection Co-ordinator, Public Appointments Service, Chapter House, 26-30 Abbey Street Upper, Dublin 1 enclosing a cheque for €6.35.

Right of rectification or erasure

You are entitled to have personal data corrected, if inaccurate, or erased if we do not have legitimate reason for retaining it. If you wish to apply to correct or delete data, please write to the Data Protection Co-ordinator, Public Appointments Service, Chapter House, 26-30 Abbey Street Upper, Dublin 1, setting out the reasons for your request. This office will respond to you within three weeks setting out a timeframe for any corrective action on our part.
