Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities 2015-2024
Under the Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities 2015-2024, the Department of Justice and Equality with the support of Government Departments set out a strategy to support people with disabilities to take part in their local communities. The key elements were:
- To promote and support the employment of people with disabilities.
- To provide people with disabilities with the same rights and opportunities as everyone else in Ireland
- To progressively increase the statutory target of 3% of employees with disabilities in the public sector towards 6% by 2024.
- To report every year on achievement of these obligations.
The Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities 2015-2024 allows for the participation of people with disabilities in Irish society. The strategy is a whole of government approach designed to promote equality and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The Public Appointments Service aims to comply with the National Disability Authority Codes of Practice. For information on the National Disability Association strategy, please read the National Disability Authority Code of Practice.
