Services Provided or to be Provided to the Public

1. Services Provided for the Public

The services provided by publicjobs include:

  • Open recruitment for positions in the Civil Service and other public service bodies;
  • Open recruitment for certain positions in the Local Authorities, HSE, Harbour Authorities, Fisheries Boards and Education and Training Boards;
  • Selection of candidates for promotion within the Civil Service by means of competitive inter-departmental selection tests and interviews;
  • Assisting other public sector organisations with open recruitment e.g. An Garda Síochána, the Nurses Career Centre;
  • Assisting the Top Level Appointments Committee in making senior appointments within the Civil Service;
  • Management of applications for membership of state boards.

2. How Can Such Services be Accessed

Application forms and information booklets are available on-line for all campaigns run by publicjobs (on publicjobs.ie) once the campaign is advertised.
Contact details for the particular campaign are published at this stage. Members of the public may apply for any campaign run by publicjobs for which they meet the eligibility requirements.

3. How Much Services Cost to Access

There are no fees or charges for participating in any campaigns run by publicjobs.

4. Administration of Such Services

Campaigns are run in line with the CPSA Codes/publicjobs Guidelines (as appropriate) and in accordance with internal recruitment and selection procedures.

5. Review or Appeal Rights

COMPLAINTS AND REQUESTS FOR REVIEW UNDER SECTIONS 7 AND 8 OF THE CODE OF PRACTICE

At publicjobs we will consider requests for review in accordance with the provisions of the codes of practice published by the CPSA. A candidate can seek a review by a person in the recruiting body (initial reviewer). Where a candidate remains dissatisfied following this initial review, he/she may seek to have the conduct of the initial review examined by a “decision arbitrator”.

DEALING WITH CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS IN RELATION TO SERVICE DELIVERY

At publicjobs we aim to provide an excellent quality service to all customers. If, for whatever reason, you are unhappy with any aspect of the service you receive from publicjobs, you are urged to bring this to the attention of the unit or staff member concerned. This is important as it ensures that publicjobs is aware of the problem and can take the appropriate steps to resolve it.

If the complaint cannot be dealt with immediately, a response will be issued to you within seven working days of receipt of the complaint. If this deadline cannot be met, publicjobs will inform you of progress in dealing with your complaint and provide you with an expected completion date.

If you are unhappy with the response, you may refer your complaint to the Complaints Officer who will respond within seven working days.

Should you still be unhappy after receiving the reply from the Complaints Officer, you should make direct contact with the Complaints Officer again to discuss what action might be taken to ensure that the matter can be resolved.

Customers may at any stage take their complaint to the Ombudsman. The Office of the Ombudsman is an independent agency established to investigate complaints from the public who are dissatisfied with the service they have received from a public sector organisation.

We, publicjobs, aim to provide an excellent quality service to all customers. This is important as it ensures that publicjobs is aware of the problem and can take the appropriate steps to resolve it.
