Recent Developments at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown
A new €32 million Education and Research Centre (ERC) at Connolly Hospital officially opened in 2024 by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. The new centre joins the Smurfit Building, Education and Research Centre at Beaumont Hospital as RCSI’s second major clinical centre of academic excellence in Ireland.
RCSI is expanding its Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown campus with a 4,000m² Dental Education Centre, which held its 'topping out' ceremony on January 15, 2026, and is set to open in September 2027. This facility, which will provide 40 dental treatment stations and community-based training, is part of a wider investment that includes the recently opened Education and Research Centre. RCSI Dental Education Centre (Construction Milestone): The new centre, adjacent to the existing RCSI Education and Research Centre at Connolly Hospital, reached its full height in January 2026. The four-storey, 4,000m² building will house 40 dental treatment stations, simulation labs, and clinical supporting infrastructure, with a focus on community-focused education. It is scheduled to open in September 2027. The facility includes two floors dedicated to HSE clinical day services, specifically for rheumatology, endocrinology, and diabetes patients, enhancing outpatient capacity at Connolly Hospital.
The new €32 million ERC at Connolly Hospital was recently completed, providing, among other things, a new hospital integrated pathology laboratory. Once fully operational, the RCSI School of Dentistry at this site will train over 375 students and provide approximately 30,000 individual dental treatments to the community annually.
