It is an acute Model 3 hospital providing a broad range of scheduled and unscheduled care services to the population of Cavan and surrounding counties within its catchment area. The catchment area includes counties Cavan, Monaghan and extends to counties Meath, Longford and Leitrim.

The Hospital is part of the HSE Dublin North East Region and works closely with regional partner hospitals including larger tertiary centres in Dublin, through established referral and care pathways.

5 Story Emergency Department build, work commencing in 2026 to include Endoscopy and 56 additional beds.

Integration with Community Services, Chronic disease hub development – collaborative approach from acute and community.

Further development and expansion of the Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) to 7-day service & Surgical Assessment Unit (ASAU) which will include expansion to opening hours and new pathways of referral.
