publicjobs 100 & refreshed brand launch

On Tuesday 18th of June 2024, publicjobs was delighted to host a celebration for the centenary of our organisation. In attendance was our Chief Executive, Margaret McCabe, as well as numerous figures from across the public sector including the former General Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Tom Moran. At the event, we were delighted to formally unveil our new public name and branding.

As one of the largest recruiters in the country, publicjobs provides a centralised recruitment service in terms of promoting positions, delivering merit-based assessment and best in practice selection services across the Civil and Public Service. Recruiting across a vast and diverse range of positions, from economists to diplomats, educators to wildlife rangers, new figures highlight the scale of this operation with almost 200,000 applications, over 173,000 assessments undertaken and over 50,000 interviews delivered since 2021 for Civil and Public Service roles across the country.

The new customer facing name gives a fresh look as part of its ongoing strategy to attract the very best candidates across the range of roles on offer, marking its 100 years of service, a service that has continued to evolve in line with Irish society. The refreshed, modern, vibrant and inclusive new visual identity of publicjobs is designed to reflect this ethos, enhancing the perception and awareness of publicjobs, with the goal of attracting and recruiting a diverse and talented range of candidates into the civil and public service. One of the key deliverables is to attract new job seekers who may not have previously considered a career in the public service.

Speaking ahead of the centenary event, Minister for Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform Paschal Donohoe TD, said, “The recruitment provided by publicjobs has been essential to the successful running of our Civil and Public Services for the past 100 years, recruiting thousands of skilled individuals across several sectors. The evolution of the organisation through to the new publicjobs identity signals an exciting new chapter for civil and public service recruitment in Ireland. I have full confidence that the approach will deliver in attracting the wealth of talent from across our society that require to continue to have a thriving and effective Civil and Public Service.”

Chief Executive of the Public Appointments Service, Margaret McCabe, added, “There have been many changes within our organisation over the past 100 years which have led to our Civil and Public Services more closely reflecting our society today. While there is a huge variety of interesting, meaningful and challenging roles available across the Civil and Public Service, we are in the midst of a recruitment challenge with ongoing strong competition for talent with the private sector. However, we remain focused on being the premier public service recruiter in Ireland, attracting the best talent for the huge range of roles available across the Civil and Public Services. Our new refreshed identity reflects our commitment to innovation and excellence, capturing our vision for public service recruitment now and into the years and decades ahead.”
